Today I had a guided tour with Alvaro of the RESISTANCE MUSEUM here.
Also big thanks to Graça from FUNDAÇAO ORIENTE for hosting our resistance films and taking such great care of me, organizing so many meetings with active members of the movement, now engaged in the reconstruction of EAST TIMOR post-INDONESIAN occupation. lots of work ahead!!! RESISTIR É VENCER! (to resist is to win!)
Here it is us after the students of CSMA/ TVET did a surprise song for me and dressed me as a traditional TIMORESE
From EAST TIMOR/ DILI: a day I see a beautiful tree is a beautiful day for me.
While in EAST TIMOR, whipped up some meals for myself with the good veggies from local vendors
I hear about the potential of cocoa in EAST TIMOR . And got to see trees loaded with them at former president José Ramos-Horta’s home. JRH, thanks for being so nurturing and guiding me about social work in EAST TIMOR
We have a very entrepreneurial and humanitarian-minded CHINESE community living in EAST TIMOR, they have been here for six generations! was invited to a chinese feast, together with former president, Jose Ramos-Horta, who this year celebrates the 20th anniversary of his Peace Nobel and continues to be an indefatigable representative of the Timorese abroad.
From EAST TIMOR: full house and standing ovation for CULTURES OF RESISTANCE film. I am so moved
My classical cross-cultural moment that I try to have in each country I visit: me, a KOREAN BRAZILIAN dressed as TIMORESE having INDONESIAN meal composed of manioc leaves, steamed jackfruit, with a mountain of rice and a piece of fish
Who needs stairmaster gym when one can climb CRISTO’s hundreds of stairs. life is an uphill battle literally
finally departed EAST TIMOR and already missing the super hospitable, kind people of EAST TIMOR . And it is cold in AUSTRALIA 🙁
