trying to engage the university youth of EAST TIMOR to help me set up an event for the WESTERN SAHARA solidarity movement here. so many parallels in history… and for a long while, most thought EAST TIMOR had no chance of regaining freedom from INDONESIA and WESTERN SAHARA self-determination was coming soon. and the whole contrary happened. EAST TIMOR became independent in 2002, while WESTERN SAHARA, 40+ years later, is still waiting for the promised referendum to get rid of MOROCCAN occupation. sometimes history takes twists and turns in surprising fashion!
