According to the World Bank, 36 percent of Ugandan women ages 18 to 22 were married as children, while UNICEF reports that 49 percent of 20- to 49-year-old women were married before they reached 18. Our friends at Mifumi, an organization working to ensure the safety of women and girls, have made incredible progress fighting against child marriage and domestic violence, but there is still a long way to go.
