As often times colonization continues although formal independence is sometimes achieved, so does the resistance movement! The high turnout – 81%, and the tight results – 56.4% vs. 43.6% in the November 4th referendum in New Caledonia, the ongoing protests around the natural resource and human exploitation in the nickel mines, and the different campaigns started by grassroots organizations are signs of PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER. Stronger than ever, fighting for their rights, bringing awareness about the ongoing neoliberal colonial measures enforced by France, the indigenous Kanaky people of New Caledonia are an inspiration to all of us!! The resistance must go on!!
