Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov has been on a hunger strike in a Russian jail for more than three months. He was found guilty of forming a terrorist group and planning attacks in the Russian-annexed Crimea in the spring of 2014, but he denies all charges.
Now, the Kremlin has rejected his mother’s request for clemency. The UN, EU, and US have all condemned Russia’s treatment of Sentsov, with the EU calling it a “violation of international law.”
